Master of Arts in Development Studies
The Master of Arts in Development Studies (MADS) is an interdisciplinary graduate program aimed to provide students with a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the complex development issues on a global, national, and local scale. This program integrates ideas from various academic fields such as economics, sociology, political science, philosophy, anthropology, and environmental studies, providing a holistic approach to understanding development challenges and opportunities particularly in Mindanao.
Specifically, MADS seeks to:
- Strengthen students’ ability to critically examine pressing development issues such as poverty, inequality, globalization, sustainable development, human rights, and social justice.
- Foster critical thinking, analytical skills, and problem-solving competencies in effectively addressing development issues.
- Cultivate the students’ disciplinal expertise to engage meaningfully in development discourse and practice in diverse, dynamic, and evolving contexts.
