Master of Arts in Economics

The rationale of the curriculum revision is to ensure that the MA in Economics program is updated, relevant, and aligned with the pedagogical demands of the academe, industry, and government. The emerging trend in most economics programs in the country, and in abroad is its emphasis on basic and advanced data analytics, where quantitative modelling is applied in the analysis of complicated socio-economic issues. In this light, the new curriculum provides the students with a more robust instructional scaffolding that enables them to acquire pertinent and data-driven analytical skills which respond to the changing landscape of the job market for Economics graduates. The new curriculum includes Ignatian Leadership (3 units), Data Management and Analytics (3 units), and Economics of Public Policy (3 units). In total, there will be 18 units of core courses, 12 units of professional courses, 6 units of electives, and 6 units of thesis.
