Master of Arts in Education major in Basic Education Teaching Science

The program aims to prepare its graduates for teaching science who are equipped with competencies in foundational theories in education. The program will develop competencies of its graduates both content knowledge and pedagogy in teaching science in response to the K-12 basic educational reforms in the country.

The core courses are grounded in professional practice that will enable the students to develop analytical skills through the basic rigors of research; and hence, help them create models and approaches in teaching and learning that will improve student achievement and engagement in science. Alongside the core courses, the major courses will enable the graduates to advance their skills and competencies as a teacher teaching content knowledge in science.

The program emphasizes the training of a graduate as a sui generis who can assume administrative or supervisory roles in teaching science. As a transformational educational leader imbued with Ignatian Spirituality, the graduates are responsible for helping transform the school into an inclusive community with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
