Master of Arts in English
The Master of Arts in English program is meticulously designed to cultivate expertise in language, literature, and cultural studies, while nurturing critical thinking, research acumen, and leadership inspired by the Ignatian tradition. The program offers two distinct tracks. The Language Studies Track delves into language theories, discourse analysis, and Philippine language issues, with a focus on cutting-edge linguistic research and contemporary debates. The Literary and Cultural Studies Track explores literary theory, Philippine and postcolonial literature, and Mindanao cultural studies, placing emphasis on historical, cultural, and critical literary analysis.
Upon graduation, students will be empowered to conduct research that addresses pressing social issues, language discrimination, and cultural inequalities, as well as engage in discourses on gender, power dynamics, and postcolonialism. Moreover, they will be equipped to promote language and literary preservation while embodying the values of Ignatian leadership to serve vulnerable communities with compassion and integrity.
